Fire Station 2 opened in 1967. Due to the continued growth of the district and the need for more modern living quarters for personnel, an addition was done in 1994. Station 2 quarters 3 ALS ambulances, 1 AED equipped engine, 1 102' tower ladder, a reserve engine, and 2 staff vehicles. Station 2 has a Lieutenant and 5 firefighters assigned there per shift, but due to scheduled time off, injuries or illness their staffing is reduced from 6 personnel to a minimum of 3. Like the other 2 stations, they act as a jump company between the different apparatus and the other apparatus is out of service until they return from the call or until off duty firefighters come in and staff them. On weekdays between 8a.m. and 5p.m. the station also has a training officer assigned there, and at night and on the weekends the fire district also assigns 1-2 part time firefighters to Station 2, which may allow for a second jump company to be available.
Prior to station 3 opening station 2 would respond to more calls than station 1, but when station 3 opened station 2's still district was split in half. Currently stations 1 and 2 are responding to about the same amount of calls with station 2 responding to just a few more. In addition to responding to calls in their own still district, Station 2 also provides automatic aid to the northern areas of Fox Lake.
